The youngest state of India, Telangana was founded on 2nd June 2014 according to the Reorganisation Act 2014. The Act No.4 of 2016 has a provision for the establishment of Sports Authorities by the Government of Telangana. Consequently, the Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) has come into existence in the State of Telangana for the promotion of sports under the administrative control of Youth Advancement Tourism & Culture(Sports) Department(YAT&C Dept)
As an apex body of the government, SATS endeavors to implement sports development programmes including construction and maintenance of infrastructure, provide platforms for sports personnel to exhibit their talent and employ schemes of Sports Authority of India as well as Government of India.
The multifold vision of SATS is to create a healthy society, to extend support towards the development of various sports disciplines, and to cater to the needs of the people of all walks of life. SATS also lays emphasis on organizing Sports activities in rural and tribal areas to broaden the horizons of sports in Telangana.
Through sports infrastructure, coaches and financial assistance, SATS strives for excellence in Sports. SATS aims at winning Medals in the Olympics, Commonwealth and Asian Games and Professional Tournaments of respective sports.
