The Government vide G.O Ms.No.82, Dt.18.10.2012 of YAT & C (Sports) Department, has taken policy decision to go for Construction of a Sports Stadium in each of its Assembly Constituencies in a phased manner.
The Sports Authority has submitted the detailed proposals with Action plan, Estimates and type design of the Sports Infrastructure to be developed by Sports Authority in the State. The developmental works have been prioritized with the Sports Infrastructure which is in a dilapidated condition in the first phase, completion of the Ongoing projects in the second phase and New projects in the third phase.
a) The Construction of Mini / Indoor Stadia will require a minimum of 5 / 7.5 Acres of land as per the design and estimates.
b) The designs and the cost have to be standardized with a view to accommodate all the popular major Outdoor and Indoor Sports / Games.
c) The Outdoor Stadia are provided with Athletics (200 meters track), Cricket, Basketball, Football, Volleyball, Tennis, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho facilities.
d) The Indoor Stadia shall have facilities of Badminton, Table Tennis, Carroms, Chess, Gymnastics and a Multi Gym.
e) In order to provide a source of revenue to the stadia to meet their maintenance expenditure provision of shops are incorporated in the type design.
The District Collector who is the Chairman of District Sports Authority will submit the required proposals for construction of Mini Stadia after identifying the required land as per Sports Policy along with Estimates, Plans etc., through the VC & MD, SATS for obtaining Administrative sanction by the Government.
As per the above guidelines among 119 Assembly Constituencies of (31) Districts in Telangana State, 94 Constituencies are already covered under the Sports Policy and 154 works are sanctioned with project cost of Rs 291.77 Crores [out of which 31 works are completed 66 works are under progress and expected to be completed by the end of this Financial Year i.e., March 2019. The remaining (57) units works are to be taken up shortly]. As regards to sanction of mini stadia in the balance (25) No. of Constituencies to be covered, efforts are being taken for identifying the required land. As soon as the required land is identified and handed over to the respective District Sports Authority / SATS, the proposals for sanction of Mini Stadia for the Constituencies not covered will be submitted to the Government for according Administrative sanction and release of required funds.
